 Barbados History     The history of Barbados dates all the way back to 1625 when Captain John Powell claimed the island for King James I of England. Then in 1628    Earl of Carlisle granted 10,000 acres to a group of Merchants. Over the next few decades, much of the land would be for dispute.     Tobacco was a huge thing in Barbados despite it having poor quality. To top it off there was a tobacco glut which resulted in an economic crisis. This also resulted in sugar replacing tobacco in 1645. Demographics and Slaves  In the mid-1600s there was an establishment of large sugar plantations causing a large importation of nearly 40,000 slaves from west Africa. This shifted the demographics by 1660 and the African descent outnumbered the English decent. More and more slaves were brought to the island by the 17th and 18th-century and tensions began to rise. The tensions rose and lead to the Bussa Rebellion , one of the largest slave revolt in history. Culture Much of the culture is very div

 Dominican Republic The Dominican Republic is an amazing place to travel. If you are looking for a beautiful place with beautiful people the Dominican Republic is the place to go. It has a diverse culture and is very friendly to tourists.  A great time to go to the Dominican Republic is from December to March because it usually has an all year hot climate.    Scenery   The Dominican Republic is known for having beaches.  Some beaches that are very popular there is  Bavaro Beach, Playa Rincón, and Cayo Levantado. Bavaro Beach is one of the most popular beach resorts  There are also many other places apart from the beach. The capital of the Dominican Republic is a must. The city is a great way to see people and get to try many new foods.  On top of that, you can also visit many tourist sites.  Fortaleza Ozama is the oldest Fortess in the Americas Culture and Music  Dominicans are very happy and have great humor. Who I am My name is Leonardo and was born in Atlanta, GA. I am an 18-year-old Latino and am currently attending Georgia Gwinnett College. This is my second year and I majoring in business administration. Although I am unsure of what I want to do as a career I hope that while I am in college that I am able to learn more about myself.  My Passions Many of my hobbies consist of going on hikes, going to the gym, drawing, and watching anime. Watching anime and drawing is something that is relaxing and entertaining and despite my experience, I am able to make decent artwork. Going on hikes and going to the gym is fun and motivating. Fun fact- before working out I use to be on the swim team at my high school which introduced me to be more active.  Some of my special interests would be that I enjoy investing and studying the stock market.
